Denessens celebrate 60th wedding anniversary
NAHMA – Nick Denessen and the former Betty Kruse will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 24.
The Denessen’s were united in marriage at the Ladd Air Force Base Chapel in Fairbanks, Alaska, Jan. 24, 1953. Standing in the for couple were Earl and Rita Harmon, both friends of the couple.
Nick retired from P&H in 1983. He also owned an electrical business. He currently serves on the Board of Alger Delta Co-op and is a member of the Elks Club, Nahma Boat Club, and Big Bay Snowmobile Club.
Betty retired from State Bank of Escanaba in 1995 after 25 years of service. She is currently serving as the treasurer of Nahma Township.
As a couple, they are both members of Nahma Historical Society, Rapid River Senior Center, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
The Denessen’s are the parents of six children, Nick Jr. and Diane Denessen of Missoula, Mont., Vicki of Oconto, Wis., Micki of Knoxville, Md., Rick of Jacksonport, Wis., Sherri of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Terry and Chris of Kelsa, Wash. They also have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
