John W. Miljour

ROCK – John W. Miljour, 73, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz., following a short battle with cancer. He was born to Earl and Eileen (Saari) Miljour, June 18, 1939, in Perkins. John was raised in Trombley, and was a longtime resident of Rock.

On June 25, 1960, John married Geraldine S. Christy, and in August 1973 their daughter, Heather, was born.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the American Legion. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Tri-Township Fire Department in Rock. John attended Bay College for drafting and design, and worked as a carpenter and construction foreman until retirement in 1997.

He and Geraldine spent most of their retirement years traveling in their RV. He enjoyed dancing, camping, hiking, exploring, golfing, and hunting. John had a wonderful sense of humor, and a large circle of friends.

John is survived by his wife, Geraldine; daughter, Heather Miljour of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Patricia Mink of Hancock, Wis.; and brothers, Ernest Vallier of Leesburg, Fla., and David Vallier of Bark River.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Felix Miljour; and a sister, Muriel Blank.

A memorial service led by Pastor Rell Spickerman will be held for John at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock. A supper will follow in the Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.

John will be buried in the Rock Cemetery.
