Lois L. Curran

ESCANABA – Lois L. Curran, 79, of Escanaba, Mich., passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, Mich. She was born Jan. 29, 1933, in St. Paul, Minn., and was the daughter of Hilmer and Ida (Nordquist) Sodermark. Lois grew up in Ford River and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1951. Following graduation Lois worked for the state of Michigan as a clerk. The former Lois Sodermark married Robert Curran on June 20, 1953, in Escanaba and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2000. Lois later worked at St. Francis Hospital, for 25 years at the switch board and then worked at The Fair Store and Woolworth’s, returning to St. Francis Hospital until her retirement. Lois was baptized and confirmed from Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. She was an extremely social person and enjoyed visiting with others. Lois was a ” Sparkly Lady.”

Lois L. Curran is survived by: son, Tim (Mary) Curran of Escanaba; daughters, Terry (Pete) Kidd of Flat Rock, Karen (Larry) Dean of Chillicothe, Ill., Patti Paulin of Ypsilanti, Mich.; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lois L. Curran will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Erik Heskin from the Bethany Lutheran Church officiating.
