Cecile A. Sodergren
ESCANABA – Cecile A. Sodergren, 2900 3rd Ave S., Escanaba, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Bishop Noa Home.
She was born on April 7, 1914, in Escanaba, daughter of Frank and Edith (Tobin) Chouinard.
On June 19, 1934, the former Cecile Sodergren married Lloyd Henry Sodergren at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.
Cecile owned and operated Sodergren’s Superette and was known as “Pasty Queen.” She loved to bake for family, friends and for her bakery in the Superette.
She was a member of Holy Family Church in Flat Rock and was a member of the Altar Society. Cecile was a RSVP volunteer at Bishop Noa Home and Christian Park for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to music, playing cards and bingo, and loved her flower garden.
Among the survivors include her children, George (Sherry) Sodergren of Skiatook, Okla., Marshall (Bonnie) Sodergren of Escanaba, Carol (Zane) Zander of Brillion, Wis., and Deborah Sodergren of Skiatook, Okla.; daughter in law, Marion Sodergren of Escanaba; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Sr. on June 26, 1974; son, Lloyd Jr.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, Clifford and Arthur Chouinard; and sisters, Marcella Porath, Violet Greenwood and Lorraine Irving.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 2 to 4:15 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Rev. Emmett Norden officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Sodergren family with arrangements.
