Lukas Neil ‘Duke’ Sanville

GLADSTONE – Lukas Neil “Duke” Sanville, 19, 3437 Co 426 24th Rd., Gladstone, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, 2013, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

He was born on March 4, 1993, in Escanaba, son of Ronald Sanville and Kim (Sanville) Knauf Wyckoff. Lukas was raised in Gladstone, graduating from Gladstone High School in 2011.

Luke was an avid motocross racer, racing for many years in the District 16 circuit, winning several championships.

Hunting season for Luke began Oct. 1 with bow season, into rifle season, black powder season and ending with bow season. To say he loved hunting is an understatement. He took annual trips to Colorado and Wyoming with his dad, several cousins and uncle. Whenever he could fit it into his busy schedule, Luke loved to fish, even building his own fishing boat at the age of 16.

Luke loved woodworking and made several beautiful pieces for all to enjoy.

Luke had an infectious smile. His happiness and love for the Lord radiated in him. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. As one friend described Luke, “he jumped into this world and never touched the ground.” In his 19 short years he lived a lifetime.

Luke is survived by his parents, Kim (John) Wyckoff and Ron Sanville; brother, Nathan “Tades” Sanville; maternal grandparents, Fred and Ada Knauf; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Sanville; Paternal great-grandfather, Richard Cool; uncles, Scott Knauf and Jamie (Trina) Sanville; cousins, Curt, Abby and Blake Knauf and Neil and Leah Sanville; several great aunts, uncles and cousins and an extended “motocross family.”

Visitation will be on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Grace Church in Gladstone. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor Steve Patrick officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the Lukas Sanville Scholarship Fund has been set up for the Gladstone High School.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Sanville family with arrangements.
