Wicklund completes basic training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Airman Tyler J. Wicklund has completed an intense eight and a half week training program and graduated from Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Wicklund continued his training at tech school at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He graduated Jan. 23 as First Class Airman E-3. He specializes in fuels/fuel maintenance on fighter jets including F-16 and F-18. He will begin his first deployment duty in Homestead, Fla.

A 2012 graduate of Rapid River High School, the airman joined the Air Force through the Delayed Enlistment Program as a junior in high school under the guidance of Staff Sgt. Cassee Robbins and his parents, Jason and Cindy (Couillard) Wicklund of Stonington.

Wicklund is the grandson of Dale and Cathy Couillard of Perkins and Louie and Diane Wicklund of Stonington. His recently deceased (Jan. 13) great-grandmother is Hertha Wicklund of Stonington.
