Bertha ‘Bea’ Berg

RAPID RIVER – Bertha “Bea” Berg, 81, passed away at home Feb. 7, 2013, after battling a number of health issues for several years.

Born Jan. 18, 1932, Bea was the 12th of 13 children born to Louis and Mary (Oberstar) Lustick of Trenary. Bea graduated from Trenary High School in 1950. Following high school, she worked as a nurses’ aid until marrying Robert (Bob) Berg on Jan. 31, 1952.

Bea was a loving housewife and mother. She was known as a good neighbor and host. She especially liked to bake, producing a near-endless supply of cookies for neighborhood children and her own five cookie monsters. Bea was an avid reader and loved word and trivia games.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; five children, Mike of Rapid River, James (Lori) of Rapid River, Robert (Lorraine) of Norton Shores, Mich., Mary of Escanaba, and David (Luisa) of Escanaba. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews from the immediate area. On the Lustick side of the family are siblings, Donna Iraneta, Ron, and John Lustick.

Bea has been a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church of Rapid River for 31 years. Funeral services will be held for Bea at St. Charles on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Internment will be at the Trenary Cemetery in the Spring at a later date.
