Thomas James Bray

IRON RIVER – Thomas James Bray, 71, of Iron River, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette.

He was born Oct. 27, 1941, in Stambaugh, the son of the late Reginald and Phyllis (Greenlund) Bray. He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School with the Class of 1959.

He was a U.S Air Force Veteran, serving from 1959 to 1964. Following his honorable discharge, he received his Associate’s Degree from Gogebic Community College. He was employed as a machinist at D.A. McPherson for many years.

Thomas married the former JoAnn Marshall on Dec. 30, 1967, at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and the couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2012.

He was a member of the Grace Covenant Church of Iron River and President of the former Iron County Sportsmen Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing and bowling. He also loved to sing.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and William Bray.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; son, Darren (Jessica) Bray of Escanaba; daughter, Tricia (Todd) Miilu of Gwinn; brother, Dennis Bray of Iron River; sisters, Janet Harper of Iron River, Bonnie Bray of Iron River; six grandchildren, Mikayla, Riley, Elliina, Casey, Landry and Anja.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Grace Covenant Church of Iron River.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Grace Covenant Church with Rev. James Swanson II to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the service.
