Mich. man thrown from snowmobile, breaks leg

SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY – A downstate man broke his leg when he was thrown from his snowmobile and struck a tree on a trail in Schoolcraft County Wednesday morning, according to the Schoolcraft County Sheriff Department.

Rescue units from the sheriff’s department and Manistique Public Safety responded to the accident on Trail 413 at the Eight Mile cut-across.

The man, from Clayton, Mich., was transported by a snowmobile rescue sled to a waiting ambulance then taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital. He was later transferred to Marquette General Hospital.

Deputies reported heavy blowing snow and white-out conditions contributed to the accident.
