Doris Marie Bouchard

GLADSTONE – Doris Marie Bouchard, 88, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

Doris was the first-born child, Sept. 12, 1924, in Hermansville, to Herman and Anna (Zimmerman) Desmarais. She was raised in Hermansville and was a graduate of the Hermansville High School. Following high school, Doris knew she did not want to be a “Farm Girl” her entire life, so at that time, she and her cousin moved to Detroit where Doris landed a job with Bell Telephone Company. Doris eventually transferred back to Escanaba where she met her future husband Lawrence Bouchard. Larry and Doris fell in love, married and together made their home and raised their family on the other side of the tracks, “Moonshine Valley,” in the Buckeye area. Doris worked primarily as a homemaker throughout the years. In addition, she was proud to have babysat for Don and Sharon Anderson, taking care of their children, David and Donelle. She also babysat for Verne and Barb Nelson’s family, their children, Erik and Lauren and later for Bob and Ann Davidson’s son, Brian and Larry and Kathy Young’s children, Bradley and Lauren. It was a pleasure for Doris to help raise so many youngsters and considered all of them to be part of her family. Doris loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a longtime member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone and enjoyed crafts, sewing and traveling to visit with family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: son, Bill (Jodi) Bouchard of Edgewood, N.M.; daughters, Patti (Brian) Anderson of Gladstone, Mich., Janis Bouchard of Wausau, Wis.; brother, George (Jan) Demarais of South Bend, Ind.; sister, Norma (Bill) Wendricks of Hermansville, Mich.; grandchildren, Dan Dilladough, Sybil (Ron) Schwenke, Beth Trolinger, Jodi Bouchard, Amanda (Lance) Tanner, Molly Detman, David Fletcher, Sherri Fletcher and Ryan Bouchard.
