Margaret P. (Stodola) Anderson

ESCANABA – Margaret P. (Stodola) Anderson, 91, Escanaba, passed away early Saturday morning, March 2, 2013, at Bishop Noa Home.

She was born on April 7, 1921, in Cedar River, Mich., daughter to Frank and Hazel (Nesbitt) Stodola. Margaret graduated salutatorian from Daggett High School in 1940.

On Feb. 2, 1946, the former Margaret Stodola married Harold E. Anderson in Daggett. Margaret worked as parish secretary for St. Patrick Church for 18 years, retiring in 1986.

While she was at St. Patrick’s Church, she was a member of the Guild and sacristan. Margaret was an excellent seamstress. She was currently a member of St. Anne’s Church. She loved to read, often reading one book a week; baking, playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles.

Among her survivors include her eight children, Andrea (Dan) Sabor of Green Bay, Wis., Jane (Bill) Anderson, Harold Anderson, Pauline (Dan) Sarasin of Escanaba, Marshal (Diana) Anderson of Monroe, Mich., Grace (M. Steve) Williams of Kalamazoo, Mich., Loren (Linda) Anderson and Elise (Elvis) Hood of Escanaba; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and three siblings, Francis (Sara) Stodola Sr. Monica (Elizabeth Stodola) and Helen (Al) Burby.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 6, from 3 to 4:45 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Emmett Norden officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Escanaba Public Library.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Anderson family with arrangements.
