GLADSTONE – Percy Reno, 89, of Gladstone passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.
Percy was born June 24, 1923, in Garden, the son of Jerry and Victoria (LaRose) Reno. Percy was united in marriage to Bernice Zimmel on Jan. 30, 1943, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. She preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1984. Percy served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and worked at the Harnischfeger Corporation for many years.
Percy is survived by two daughters, Rose Reno and Katherine (Arsenio) Villanueva, both of Auburn, Wash.; two grandchildren, Paul Villanueva and Trina Betts; three great-grandchildren, Bryce and Madison Villanueva and Skylar Betts; one sister, Jacqueline Tallman of Martinez, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including his wife, Percy was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eartha Cousineau and Eunice McPhee-Pallas; and four brothers, Vern, Isador, Traceford and Merton.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, from 3 to 5:15 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military rites will be conducted at 5:15 p.m. at the funeral home by the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6 p.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Ronald Timock officiating. A luncheon will be served following services in the church fellowship hall.
Percy will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.
