POWERS – Blossom MacKenzie, 90, of 2701 1st. Ave. S. (West Highland Apartments), passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Escanaba and was the daughter of Hubert and Charlotte (Brumstrom) Minor. Blossom graduated from Escanaba High School and was a Senior Companion at many local nursing homes.
The former Blossom Minor married Gordon MacKenzie in Gladstone, and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Blossom was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, sold Avon for many years and enjoyed sewing, music, singing, dancing and spending time with her family.
Blossom MacKenzie is survived by her daughter, Susan (John) Hahn of Wilson; five grandchildren, Suzann (Mike) Greenwood, Cheryl (Kevin) Krause, Kristine Hahn, John Hahn and Caroline (Patrick) Picard; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Kenneth (Cecilia) Minor of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Harold Minor; sister, Eleanor Smith; and best friend, Larry Metor.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Blossom MacKenzie will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Harmon officiating.
Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery.
