Daniel Lee Barra
NAHMA – Daniel Lee Barra, 62, of Nahma, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home.
He was born on June 17, 1950, in Escanaba, son of Henry and Clara (Mankiewicz) Barra. Daniel was a 1968 graduate of Holy Name High School.
Daniel served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He enlisted on Nov. 18, 1969, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on Nov. 11, 1973.
Daniel worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. He worked in the logging industry and was also employed with Harnischfeger, Community Action Agency and Rapid River Rustic, retiring in June of 2012.
He was a member of the Nahma Golf Club.
Survivors include his children, Lisa (Len Staley) Crawford of Port Huron, Mich., Kerri Barra of Kansas City, Mo., and Todd (Brenda) Barra of Edgerton, Wis.; grandchildren, Marty Crawford and Brekon Barra; his mother, Clara Barra; sisters, Dianne Forti, Gina Younkle and Pat Barra.
He was preceded in death by his dad; brothers, Gary and Alan; and sister, Marilyn.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 18 from 10 a.m. until noon at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Perronville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delta County Cancer Alliance and Northwoods Home Care and Hospice. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Barra family with arrangements.
