James Harry ‘Baba’ Peterson
ESCANABA – James Harry “Baba” Peterson, 89, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Christian Park Health Care Centre in Escanaba.
James was born May 18, 1923, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of Harold and Marcella (VanDonsel) Peterson. He worked as a salesman for the Seagrams Liquor Company for many years, covering the entire Upper Peninsula. James loved golfing and was a member at both the Gladstone and Irish Oaks Golf Courses. He also enjoyed bowling, listening to music and watching old movies.
He had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories and jokes and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family the most, especially his grandchildren, who were the love of his life.
James is survived by two daughters, Heidi (Dale) Gartland of Escanaba and Diane Groh of Gladstone; five grandchildren, Kim Parrish, Kelly Jahner, Rachel Royer and Samantha and Hallie Gartland; three great-grandchildren, Casey and Connor Royer and Emma Jahner; his brother, Francis (Nancy) Peterson of Gladstone and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom and Peter; and his sister, Madonna Reichel.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20, from 12 to 2:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Ronald Timock officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. James will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
