Mark James ‘Jim’ Neveaux
LINDENHURST, Ill. – Mark James “Jim” Neveaux, 87, of Lindenhurst, Ill., passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Escanaba, the son of the late Mark J. and Blanche (Nowland).
Jim grew up in Gladstone and had lived in several towns in Michigan before moving to Buchanan, Mich., in 1979 where he spent many years; recently settling in Lindenhurst. Jim earned his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., and completed his masters and doctorate degrees in education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was an educator; first teaching for several years, and in 1987, he retired as superintendent of Buchanan Public Schools.
On Feb. 3, 1951, he married Suzanne Prince in Galien, Mich., and she preceded him in death Sept. 19, 2005.
Survivors include his daughters, Danielle (Sean) Semler of Spring Grove, Ill., and Mindy Neveaux of Chicago, Ill.; his sister, Jane (the late Lewis) Empson of Gladstone; and two granddaughters, Brittan and Brooke.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Clare “Mickey” (Gerald) Niedermaier.
Services and interment of his ashes in Gardens of Rest, Escanaba, will be scheduled sometime in April, weather permitting. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Delta Animal Shelter, 6685 N. 75 Dr., Escanaba, MI 49829, in his memory.
