Walton A. Jean
NADEAU – Walton A. Jean, 91, of Nadeau, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, in Nadeau Township. Walt was born on Sept. 10, 1921, in Nadeau to the late Arthur and Bertha (Peterson) Jean. Walt proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
On Aug. 25, 1945, Walt married the former Rosemarie “Chubbins” Shinnick in Danvers, Minn. Chubbins preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1999.
Walt owned and operated Jean’s Lumber and drove truck for many years, retiring from Clairmont in 1983. Walt enjoyed traveling all over the world, hunting, fishing and cutting firewood. A very social guy, Walt enjoyed spending time with his friends. Time spent with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren is what Walt enjoyed most.
Walt was a member of St Bruno Catholic Church, VFW, Carney Nadeau American Legion where he served as chaplain for many years, and the 40et8.
Survivors include five daughters, Candice (Glenn) Scott, Shari Schlenvogt, Lennea (Mike) LaBonte, Lori (Mark) Moreau, Kelly Jean; two sons, Robert (Cheryl) and Bill (Deb); 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, James Jean; and sister, Ella Lee Filibeck.
Walt was preceded in death by his grandson, Rob; granddaughter, Kim; and two sisters, Beatrice and Phyllis.
Family and friends may call at St Bruno Catholic Church in Nadeau on Thursday, March 28, after 10 a.m. (CDT) until time of military rites at 12:45 p.m. (CDT). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. (CDT) with Father Corey Litzner officiating.
Burial will be in Nadeau Township Cemetery.
