New Jaycees officers elected to build local leaders

ESCANABA – The Delta County Jaycees have announced the 2013 Board of Directors that will be instrumental in leading the local chapter’s plan of action. Chapter projects which have been instrumental in 2012 Community Donations have included the Jaycee Duck Races hosted at Gladstone’s VanCleve Park, the Jaycee’s Haunted House hosted at Ernie’s Irish Pub and various other projects.

The new officers are: President, Kristi Hansen; President-Elect, John Bergman; Past President, Brian Nelson; Management Development Vice President, Ruth Germain; Community Development Vice President, Chris Germain; Membership Development Vice President, Sara LaMarch and Kassi Howard; Individual Development Vice President, Mike Dutkavich; Public Relations Vice President, Becka Holm; Secretary, Jessica Erickson; Treasurer, Jayleen Kauffman; and Historian, Jennilee Spear.

The Jaycees is an organization that gives individuals, age 21-40, an opportunity to gain leadership skills while making a positive impact on their community. Programming offers members leadership skills, community involvement opportunities, personal development and social opportunities.

The Delta County Jaycees are a local chapter of the Michigan Jaycees, which represent more than 2,000 young professionals in more than 50 chapters across the state. Chapters develop and produce community events.

Additionally, chapters across the state assist other organizations and have been instrumental in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the Michigan Broadcast Association’s D-TV Transition Program and Detroit Piston’s Kids Kicking Cancer.

The Delta County Jaycee’s general membership meetings are open to guests if interested in becoming involved. They meet the second Wednesday of the month at the Elk’s Club with social from 5-6 p.m. and the meeting following at 6.
