Beware of new gas tax

The call from our state government goes out again to raise the tax on a consumer product we all use almost daily.

The last time Michigan raised the tax on gas was a 4 cents in 1997. This was to be used for maintaining our roads. As of this date March 29, 2013, our Michigan gas tax is at 19 cents, and the federal tax is at 18.4 cents. It seems that the brain drain in Lansing is back at it again. The money our state collects on fuel tax will no doubt find a new ventures to explore, but not for our roads and bridges.

Right behind these yahoos is the EPA with a proposal of $1.40 tax to protect the environment. Beware consumers! No doubt this tax will pass, but the monies will not be used for our roads and bridges.
