ESCANABA – Lois Alperovitz, 89, of Escanaba, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at her home at Northwoods Assisted Living in Escanaba. She born Feb. 15, 1924, in Escanaba and was the daughter Walter and Alice Pearson. Lois graduated from Escanaba High School in 1942. The former Lois Pearson married Erwin Wolff on Dec. 29, 1957, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1983.
She later married Leo Alperovitz on April 13, 1985, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2001.
Lois was employed as a secretary with the Escanaba school system until her retirement. Lois instrumental in the starting of the Delta County Hospice, volunteered for over 10 years with the organization and served as the volunteer organizer for the Delta County Hospice. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, served on church council and many church committees. Lois also loved to travel. Lois Alperovitz is survived by: sister, Betty (Benjamin) Donaghy of Saginaw, Mich.; brother-in-law, Robert Boyle of Green Bay, Wis.; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Boyle.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lois Alperovitz will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Erik Heskin officiating.
A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall. Memorials can be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. The Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
