Elks to honor ‘special’ persons of the year

ESCANABA – The Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 will host its annual ceremony to honor its members and area citizens for their outstanding work for their organization and the community.

The ceremony will take place tonight at the Elks Lodge beginning with a dinner and installation ceremony for new officers at 5 p.m. The recognition program will follow.

Those who will be honored are: “Elk of the Year” – Jim Barr, “Elk Officer of the Year” – Donald “Art” Rogers, “Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” – Lt. Jason Thibeault, “Citizen of the Year” – Brenda Crow, and “Elk Auxiliary Member of the Year” – Lynn Liebel.

One of the supreme charitable organizations in the area, Elks 354 contributes volunteer hours and financial support to the community in many areas. The Elks place primary focus on the youth, veterans and disabled.
