Acoustic Fusion at work
ESCANABA – Area residents have the opportunity to see Acoustic Fusion at work at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, when award winning singer-songwriter John Latini teams up with sweet-voiced Jamie-Sue Seal to produce a concert at the Bonifas Arts Center that is “Hillbilly endorsed and hippie approved,” according to the duo’s posters.
With his beguiling, husky voice and righteous, blues-based guitar style, Latini also fronts the Flying Latini Brothers, which sometimes features vocals by Seal. With four self-produced solo CDs, Seal also fronts a band called the Troublers. That they should work together as a duo seems as natural as two healthy vines intertwining.
Whether in harmony or playing off each other, the show presents a him-and-her, back-and-forth synergy that can’t be manufactured, only cultivated. They’ll make you sing along (or at least tap your toes), clap, and leave smiling.
Concert presenter Michael Curths says the pair exhibits “..exceptional musicianship combined with enormous wit and engaging showmanship; they are the real deal.” Another fan described their charged, sparkling chemistry as “a hilarious blend, possessing all the best and worst qualities of marital dysfunction and sibling rivalry.”
Tickets are $10, or $5 for students, available online at bonifasarts.org or at the Center at 786-3833.
