Marilyn J. Dyer
ESCANABA – Marilyn J. Dyer, 81, 2701 1st Ave S., Escanaba, passed away on Monday evening, April 15, 2013, at Christian Park Health Care Center.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1931, in Escanaba, the daughter of Melvin G. and Agnes (Nelsen) Carlson. Marilyn graduated from Escanaba High School in 1949.
At the age of two, her mother passed away. Her father remarried and Marilyn was raised by her dad and stepmother, Isabelle.
On Oct. 3, 1952, the former Marilyn J. Carlson married Drew J. Dyer in Camden, N.J. He has preceded her in death.
Marilyn worked for Delta Abstract from 1949 to 1953.
She later lived in the Milwaukee area, Palatine, Ill., where she was a dental receptionist from 1965 to 1970 and later resided in Madison, Iron Mountain and returned to Escanaba in 2006.
Among survivors include her son, David D. Dyer of Iron Mountain; sister in law, Patricia D. Bond of Clearwater, Fla.; niece, Lori Jean Bond; special cousin and best friend, Barbara Douglas of Escanaba; and many other special cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel W. Dyer.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes there will be no services at this time.
Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Escanaba’s Community Action Agency in Marilyn’s name.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Dyer family with arrangements.
