Roberta ‘Bobbi’ Gorenchan

ESCANABA – Roberta “Bobbi” Gorenchan, 58, of Escanaba, passed away on Saturday afternoon, April 27, 2013, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born on Nov. 12, 1954, in Escanaba, daughter of Peter and Veronica (Bal) Breclaw. Bobbi attended Holy Name High School until its closure and then graduated from Escanaba High School in 1973. She also attended Bay College for a short time.

The former Roberta Breclaw married David Martinson who preceded her in death in January of 1974 prior to the birth of their son, David. On Sept. 22, 1978, she married Richard C. “Rick” Gorenchan at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba and enjoyed over 34 years of marriage.

She loved spending time with family. The simple moments of sitting outside in the sun with a book or visiting with friends and neighbors were precious to her. She also enjoyed camping in Oshkosh each summer with EAA friends.

In Bobbi’s younger years, she was an avid bowler involved in multiple bowling leagues. During that time, she formed close bonds with several friends, forming a “birthday club” over 30 years ago which was a time she looked forward to.

Among survivors include her husband, Rick of Escanaba; sons, David (Nicole) Martinson of Fargo, N.D., and Jason Gorenchan of Escanaba; daughter, Dr. Jeanise (Mike) Butterfield of Detroit, Mich.; grandchildren, Gage Gorenchan and Cooper Martinson; brother, Bob (Betty) Breclaw of Escanaba; sister, Rita (John) White of Cedarburg, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Nick White.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service celebrating the life of Bobbi will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.
