Mary T. Purzol
ESCANABA – Mary T. Purzol, 83, of Escanaba, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 27, 2013, at the Northwoods Assisted Living Facility where she currently resided.
Mary was born May 13, 1929, in Escanaba, the daughter of Noah and Evelyn (LeDuc) Marcoe Sr. She was raised in Escanaba and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and was a graduate of Escanaba Senior High School. Mary was joined in marriage to Rudy Dahl whom preceded Mary in death. She later married Anthony “Tony” Purzol and together the couple made their home in Escanaba. Tony also preceded Mary in death.
Throughout her life, Mary was employed primarily for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. Mary was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. She was a very talented artist and seamstress who especially enjoyed painting portraits and in later years crocheting.
Survivors include her brother, Rene Marcoe of Escanaba; sister, Margie (Fred) Engdahl of Escanaba. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Noah Sr. and Evelyn, Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Rudy Dahl and Tony Purzol; brothers, James Marcoe and Noah Marcoe Jr.; sister, Georgianna Stern; sisters-in-law, Joanne and Marilyn Marcoe.
Mary’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial services will follow visiting hours at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Fr. Eric Olson officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish Hall. Mary will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba.
