AAUW annual membership election and dinner May 16

ESCANABA – The AAUW Program Committee, consisting of Susan Hampton, Program VP, Judy Fouts, Cindy Bender and Cynthia Bender, is busy planning the Thursday, May 16, AAUW Annual Membership Dinner at the House of Ludington. All members are encouraged to attend.

Officers will be elected for the next year.

Members are welcome to bring guests who may be interested in joining AAUW. Cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6.

Dinner choices include: Honey Bourbon Salmon, Chicken Marsala, Bacon- Wrapped Pork Filets. All dinners include a baked potato, side salad, beverage (coffee, tea, water), and dessert. Dinner cost is $20 (includes gratuity) which is payable at the door.

Reservations are required by Monday, May 6, by calling (906) 630-1577. No late reservations can be accepted.

Members nominated to fill Board positions include: Susan Peterson, Membership vice president; Janice Gayan and Sandra Walker, Co-Program vice presidents; and Elizabeth LaBay, recording officer. Shannon Taylor, president-elect, will take office as president. Laura LaPine has been appointed to fill the remaining one-year term of finance officer. New board positions become effective July 1.

AAUW has been empowering women since 1881. By joining AAUW members belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women and girls have a fair chance. AAUW is one of the oldest and largest organizations to provide scholarships and fellowships for women. AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
