Margaret Joyce Casperson
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Margaret Joyce Casperson, 83, of Glendale, Ariz., passed away Nov. 4, 2012, from complications with Alzheimers disease.
She was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Eltham England and was the daughter of William and May Gillespie. Margaret grew up in England and her family life was quite frightening for the Germans where attacking England, so the family had to live in air raid shelters part of the time. Margaret graduated from high school at age 14, and went to work at that time living several different locations with her parents until the war ended.
Margaret met her future husband Sgt. Francis Casperson, USAF, at Manston R.A.F. Station in Manston, England. They married May 17, 1952, and for the next 60 years Margaret lived and traveled the world with her husband until their retirement settling in Arizona. Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother and home maker raising their five children. She also loved to travel, enjoyed music, cooking and spending time with her family. She had a great passion and love for animals. She cared for many family pets over the years and any animal she found in need. Margaret Joyce Casperson is survived by: husband, Francis W. Casperson (Retired TSgt. USAF); Four daughters, Sherry (Roy) Nelson of Cornell, Terry Lynn (Gordon) Byrn of Glendale, Ariz., Michele (Murphy) Pruesser of Lakeside, Ariz., Jackie (Gary) Lindmark of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Peggy and Greta, both of Canada; two brothers, Norman and Ralph both of England; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Kelvin.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Margaret Joyce Casperson will be held at noon Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ben Fox officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will be served following the burial services.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Delta Co. Animal Shelter, Hospice of the Valley, Peoria, Ariz., or the Humane Society of America. Envelopes will be available at the Anderson Funeral Home.
