Eleanore Phillips

BARK RIVER – Eleanore Phillips, 83, of Bark River, went to be home with her Lord on May 14, 2013. Eleanore was born in Wallace, Aug. 26, 1929, to Jule and Esther Johnson. She attended Stephenson High School.

On Jan. 6, 1951, she married Myron Phillips on Sparta, Wis. Together they raised six children. She worked at Teal’s Evergreen from 1969 to 1992. Eleanore was a member of the Bark River Methodist Church.

She loved traveling with her husband Myron and spending time with her family. Eleanore especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and attended many of their activities. At home she loved sewing, baking, and tending her flower gardens.

Eleanore is survived by her husband of 62 years, Myron Phillips; her children, Judy (David) Peterson, of Cadillac, Mich., Gary (Deb) Phillips of Sandusky, Ohio, Ronald (Mary) Phillips of Bark River, Deb (Steve) Cannon of Mechanicville, N.Y., and Daniel (Elena) Phillips of Waukesha, Wis., and by daughter-in-law, Sherri Phillips of Deerwood, Minn. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, William and Thomas Peterson; Patrick (Melissa), Devin and Kathleen Phillips; Jessica (Evan) Gallup and Jeremy Phillips; Matthew and Melissa Cannon; Mallory, Josh and Samantha Phillips; and Sara Bruder, James, Jonathan and Amy Jo Phillips; and three great-grandchildren, Eleanor Gallup, Jackson Phillips and Elijah Gallup. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Chiarenza of Romeoville, Ill. and Shirley (Richard) Tymm of Janesville, Wis.; and brothers, Clarence Johnson of Wallace, and Gust (Mary) Johnson of Menominee.

In addition to her parents, Eleanore was preceded in death by her son, Brian James Phillips; brother, Donald Johnson; and brother-in-law, Frank Chiarenza.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River.

The funeral service celebrating the life of Eleanore will be at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The committal service will follow at Bark River Cemetery. A meal will follow at the Bark River Methodist Church.
