ESCANABA – Theresa Mroczkowski returned to God’s home on Monday, June 3, 2013 joining her husband, Henry, and their son, Dale, as well as all the many relatives and friends that she laughed and enjoyed life with during her 83 years on this earth.
Theresa leaves her two sons, Henry “Hank” (Linda) and Clarence “Corky” (Nancy) and Dale’s wife, Sue, with memories of their mom and so many stories to tell about her for years to come. She will also be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Marc, Sherry, Nicholas, Megan and Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Bryant, Madalyn, Mason and Brennan; and great-great-grandson, Roman.
She was born Theresa Bartosz in Chicago on July 14, 1929, and with her sisters, Vangie, Helen, Stella and brothers, Edward, Clarence, Ted, Bill, Casey and Mike she grew up on a farm in Perronville, Mich., with their parents, Anna and father/stepfather, Michael Slaga.
Theresa met her husband, Henry, in 1947 and they were married later that year. They started their married life in Bark River, moving to the Danforth area in the early 1950s.
Theresa was a resident of the Bishop Noa Home for her last years and we SINCERELY THANK each person at Bishop Noa for their love, empathy and care as Theresa fought her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
For all her friends then and now, please remember her for her love of gardening and canning, as well as her love of cooking – her wonderful pasties and sweet cinnamon rolls. Also remember her love of music and dancing with Henry, her hard work to better her children’s lives, and most of all, the dedication to all her family and friends. We will miss her.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dale Mroczkowski Scholarship Fund at the Escanaba Area High School.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Mroczkowski family.
