Boy Scout Troop 408 is pictured in this photograph taken during the Christmas season in the early 1950s in the basement of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. According to Elmer Bessonen, who helped identify some of the Scouts and leaders in the photo, the troop was sponsored by Bethany Lutheran for a number of years before it was disbanded. It was later “resurrected” by Scoutmaster Ray Rose, who is pictured on the back row on the far right. Assistant Scoutmaster Glenn Mathieson is pictured on the far left. Bessonen identified a number of the Scouts in the back row, started with third from left, Russell Winling, John Wilkinson, Jerry Olson, Elmer Bessonen, Oliver Swanson, and Greg Johnson. The Scout on the far left is Richard Oslund. Fourth and fifth boys in front are Tom Ferguson and ? Hamilton.
