Dorothy M. Derouin

ESCANABA – Dorothy M. Derouin, 91, formerly of 1725 5th Ave S., currently residing with her daughter, Barbara, at 5363 Portage Pt., Escanaba, passed away on Sunday evening, June 23, 2013.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1922, in Escanaba, daughter of Clarence and Dorothy “Dora” (Ranguette) Vogel. Dorothy graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1939.

On April 14, 1943, Dorothy Vogel married Palmer J. Derouin at St. Joseph’s Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Dorothy worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an operator, was a secretary for 17 years at Production Credit and retired as a teller and branch manager for First National Bank.

She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society and the Highland Golf Club. Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge and bowling. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her many friends.

Among survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Jon R.) Flath; three grandchildren, Matthew J. (Kristi) Flath, Kristin L. (David) Lord and Mark A. Flath; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nathan, and Andrew Lord, all of Escanaba.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by Eleanor (Bordlais) Rodgers, who was raised as a sister to Dorothy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
