RSVP volunteers honored at luncheon
GLADSTONE – The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) members were honored at a recent Spring Luncheon Celebration. The luncheon and festivities were held at the Terrace Bay Inn.
Terry Peerless, RSVP Policy Advisory Council (P.A.C.) vice-chair and RSVP volunteer, served as master of ceremonies. Delta County Veterans Council presented the Colors. Rene Lippens, Delta County Veterans Council Member, led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. All participants joined in singing “The National Anthem” with U.P Express. The welcome was provided by Bill Dubord, executive director of the Menominee-Delta- Schoolcraft Community Action Agency & Human Resource Authority, Inc. (MDS CAA HRA). The Invocation was provided by Carol Clark of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Gladstone.
Presentations were provided by the following: Liz Reed, Community Affairs Specialist for U.S. Senator Carl Levin; Letters of Shared Thoughts by Kane Beauchamp, staff assistant for U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Dale McNamee, district representative for State Senator Tom Casperson; Delta County Sheriff Gary Ballweg, TRIAD/RSVP; Joe Russell, manager, DNR Pocket Park; Joe Kaplan, president, Common Coast Research & Conservation; and Marc Sutton, American Red Cross Blood Services, Donor Recruitment Representative, Donor Resources Development.
In addition to Peerless, representatives of the Policy Advisory Council in attendance were Gail Zierk and Joyce Sheedlo.
RSVP Policy Advisory Council Members awarded 50 Hour Pins to Margaret Denesha, Joyce Thorsen and Susan Wanic. Those not present but also receiving pins were Vicki Adkins, Mary Bjorkquist, Evelyn Christianson, Art “Skip” Dillon, Diane Johnson, Marianne Poe, Doris VanDamme, and John Ziemba.
DTE Energy donated $500 in gas cards which were given to the volunteers as door prizes.
This event was funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, Office of Services to the Aging, United Way of Delta County and DTE Energy.
