Gary Lee ‘Porky’ Derouin

WILSON – Gary Lee “Porky” Derouin, 67, N15691 D-1 Road, Wilson, passed away at his home early Friday morning, June 28, 2013. He was born on April 8, 1946, in Escanaba, son of Alex and Thelma (Buckland) Derouin. Gary attended Bark River Schools.

Gary served in the National Guard for 23 years.

On July 14, 1979, Gary married the former Susan Lynn Sundquist at the Salem Lutheran Church in Escanaba.

He was employed with Harnischfeger as a welder until its closure and then worked as a truck driver for Naser Oil for 22 years. Gary was an avid NASCAR and Jimmy Johnson fan.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Wilson; daughter, Kristina Derouin of Midland, Mich.; siblings, Kenneth (Sandy) Derouin, John (Carol) Derouin, Dale (Mary) Derouin all of Schaffer, Barb (Jeff) Richer of Rockford, Ill., and Carol Kutches of Escanaba; brothers and sisters-in-law, Maryann Derouin of Escanaba, Karen (Vernard) Viau of Bark River, Dennis (Pam) Sundquist of Carney, Thomas (Debbie) Sundquist of Gladstone, Juli (Brian) Derouin of Bark River and Leonard Sundquist of Bark River; many nieces and nephews; special great-niece, Jenna Alsbury; and his dog, Scooter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Roger (Joyce) Derouin; sisters, Dorothy (Emmery) Skradski and Lois (Robert) Dupey; and brother-in-law, Robert Sundquist.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 1, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Christine Bergquist officiating at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be in Bark River Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Derouin family with arrangements.
