Bernadine Mary Seymour

ESCANABA – Bernadine Mary Seymour, 75, of 1620 Willow Creek Road, Escanaba (formerly of Bark River), passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Mich., following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 26, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., and was the daughter of Ed and Stella Grzybowski. Bernadine attended school in Bark River and was a member of the Graduating Class of 1956. Following high school, she began her employment career at Harnischfeger Corporation as a secretary and remained there until 1960.

On June 4, 1960, the former Bernadine Mary Grzybowski married Robert Seymour at St. George Catholic Church in Bark River. The couple then moved to Green Bay, Wis., where she worked for the Green Bay Credit Bureau until Bob and Bernie decided to return to Bark River in 1964. They then started their own business Seymour Vending and in 1985 opened Bob’s Quik Stop in Bark River.

Bernadine had a great love for her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and also had a treasured passion for her friends. For several years she enjoyed wintering in El Jobean, Fla., and in her spare time liked to read and complete crossword puzzles. She lived her life to the absolute fullest. She enjoyed, she loved her family and friends.

Bernadine is survived by: husband, Robert, of Escanaba; son, Mike (Shayla) Seymour, of Perronville; daughter, Lisa (Rob) Welch, of Perronville;

grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Scott, Samantha, Jacob, Joshua, Jessica and Jon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Stella, and her brother, Ed Jr.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Bernadine Mary Seymour will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish with Father Darryl J. Pepin officiating. A luncheon will take place in the church fellowship hall at the conclusion of the funeral mass. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
