Lorayne Dorothy Dubord

ESCANABA – Lorayne Dorothy Dubord, 90, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba with her daughter by her side. She was born on Feb. 9, 1923, in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Louis and Clara (Dumas) Caron. On Oct. 2, 1947, she married Paul A. Dubord at St. Patrick’s Church. Paul passed away on Aug. 2, 1976.

Lorayne attended St, Anne’s School and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1943. She was employed at St. Francis Hospital working in pediatrics as a nurses aide for many years. Lorayne also worked at Jim’s Dairy Kreme and the Old House of Bargains. She was very active in the DAV and Amvets and was a member of St. Thomas Parish. Lorayne love playing the piano and although she never had a lesson, she was very accomplished. She also enjoyed working on word puzzles and spending time with her new found friends at Bishop Noa Home.

Lorayne is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Joe) Derkos and Pauline (Mark) Mayville; six grandchildren, Jim (Theresa) Derkos, Danny Derkos, Joey (Kari) Derkos, Amy (Matt) Prey, Jill (Erick) Beauchamp and Julie (Matt) Vandeville; 10 great-grandchildren, Sydney, Noah, Adam, Jacob, Vinny, Isaak, Ava, Tessa, Ryan and Annie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Herman, Walter and Donald Caron, and one sister, Bernice Roman.

Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Lorayne Dubord will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Darryl Pepin officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
