Charles H. Cole
ESCANABA – Charles H. Cole, 74, 825 Washington Ave., Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 3, 2013, at Christian Park Health Care Center.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1939, in Gladstone, son of Louis and Irene (Jurvelin) Cole. Charles graduated from Gladstone High School in 1957.
On Oct. 26, 1957, Charles married Gladys Katherine Rogers at St. Patrick’s Church in Escanaba. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Charles was a truck driver for beverage distributors in the area for many years, including Graf’s, Lipinski Beverage and Pryal Distributing, retiring in 1998.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. He loved dogs and had several throughout the years. Charles was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching all sports on the TV.
Among survivors include his children, Windy (Roger) Good, David Cole, and Maureen (Jim) Rogers of Escanaba, Connie (Mark) Ratzmann of Milwaukee, Tony (Dana) Cole of Menominee, Charles “Chip” (Beth Jennings) Cole of Green Bay; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Larsen of Escanaba; close family friend, Cyndy Lombardi of Escanaba; nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Lucy (a.k.a., Lucifer).
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly; son, Matthew; and his mother and father-in-law.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delta County Animal Society. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Cole family.
