Schoolcraft hospital picks new secretary

MANISTIQUE – The Board of Trustees for Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital held a special meeting Wednesday to formally accept the resignation of Board Secretary John LaRose and elect his replacement.

LaRose, a member of the board for the past 11 years, resigned with six months remaining on his term as board secretary and a year-and-a-half remaining on his term on the board. Board members serve six year terms with the board, and elected board positions are voted upon annually by board members.

“He was really involved in the process of getting positioned for our new facility,” said Board of Trustees Chair Donald Perigo.

LaRose’s position as board secretary will be filled by Jim Ostlund, of Cooks, who has been with the board since 2005. Ostlund will remain in the secretary position until December, when LaRose’s term would be over and a new secretary will be selected.
