Police arrest Indiana man in U.P. for assault
WAKEFIELD – An Indiana man was arrested in the western Upper Peninsula this weekend after allegedly threatening a female with a large stick, according to Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post.
Troopers were dispatched Sunday to a Marenisco Township home regarding a man threatening a family, according to a news release from the post. Family members told police the unknown male came from a wooded area alongside Lake Gogebic and was making threats as he approached them with a large stick. After the man allegedly made physical threats to an adult female, the woman called 911.
When troopers made contact with the 42-year-old man from Laporte, Ind., he allegedly rambled on about Satan and religion, according to the news release.
After being charged with felonious assault, the subject was taken into custody without incident and lodged in Gogebic County Jail. His name is not being released, pending arraignment on the four-year felony.
