Clarence William ‘Bill’ Roberts
FORD RIVER – Clarence William “Bill” Roberts, 83, formerly of Ford River, beloved husband of Nancy (Scott) Roberts; loving father of Debby Lynn (Roy) Bergeon of Escanaba; Pamela Ann Roberts of Corona, Calif.; stepfather of Debra Ann Scott of Pomona, Calif.; grandfather of Jarred W.(Tamara) Ingram, Justin M. Ingram, Charlene J.(Robert) Thiede, and Ava R. Scott passed away gently at home in Pomona, Calif. of the end stages of Alzheimer’s on June 30, 2013.
Bill was born on Feb. 26, 1930, in Roswell, N.M., to Lorraine and Clarence Roberts, deceased. Bill was a Navy veteran until 1954 where he served as a submarine radioman. After leaving the Navy he received an engineering degree going on to be employed in the aerospace program with Aerojet General of Southern California, proudly being a part of the Apollo 11 development team.
Bill continued on in his career as an engineer eventually beginning his own business in wall finishing. Bill married Nancy Scott in October of 1988 in Upland, Calif., moving to Ford River in 2005 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren until his move to California in 2011. Bill enjoyed fishing and gardening, his faithful dog ‘Cutie Pie’ always at his side. He cherished every minute spent with his grandchildren and his sunny nature and smile will forever be remembered.
Bill is survived by his immediate family, one brother and one sister.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Bill’s life was celebrated with a private family memorial in Escanaba. Sympathy may be expressed with donations in Bill’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association, and/or Perspectives Adult Care in Escanaba.
