Armand L. Olson
GLADSTONE – Armand L. Olson, 79, of Gladstone, passed away Saturday evening, July 6, 2013, after spending a wonderful day with his loving family.
Armand was born July 14, 1933, in Gladstone, the son of Lloyd and Elsie (Anderson) Olson. He was raised in Gladstone and was a 1951 graduate of the Gladstone Senior High School. Following graduation, Armand enlisted in the United State Air Force where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, Armand moved to Milwaukee where he gained employment with A.O. Smith Products, working from 1965 until his retirement in 1996. Armand then returned to the Upper Peninsula to spend his retirement years in Gladstone.
Armand was a member of the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71. He enjoyed going to camp, hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards and in his retirement years, working in his yard. Armand loved to attend family gatherings. His humorous nature and witty remarks were most enjoyable to his family. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Olson of Milwaukee, Wis.; sisters, Helen (Richard) Tousignant of Gladstone, Lenore (Richard) Hanson of Rapid River; special niece, Linda (Kelly) Wicklund of Rapid River; special neighbors, Jerry (Michele) Hadel of Gladstone. Also listed among the surviving family are many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Armand was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Elsie; brothers, Richard and Robert Olson; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Olson.
Military rites, conducted by the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71, will be held privately at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
