Artisans present yoga, music, art and fishing?
GARDEN – A popular event on the Garden Peninsula for the past several years has been the Salad Luncheon and Tour sponsored by the Village Artisans. This year’s event promises to be equally interesting with new tour sites and, of course, the always delicious gourmet salads, breads and desserts.
The tour will feature a yoga studio where Cindy Coccia will give short presentations for groups of visitors. Another studio will be at the Tana and Robert Leckson home where Tana has her music studio and Robert cultivates lovely gardens.
In Garden itself is located a new studio “For the Love of Art” run by Terri McKeage. Here children will be doing arts and crafts under McKeage’s direction in a building which also functions as the setting for her various “parties” which she provides for both children and older folks.
Rounding out the tour is the Big Bay de Noc Fishery located in Van’s Harbor on Garden Bay. This fishery, owned by the Hermes Brothers, has been in operation for many decades and now trades internationally. In addition to learning many of the joys and difficulties of the current fishing business, participants will enjoy the lovely view from the site.
Donation for the luncheon and tour is $10. Tickets and brochure maps may be obtained at the Garden Gallery, 6367 State Street in Garden beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. The tour will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch being served from 11 to 2.
Proceeds from this event help the Village Artisans sponsor enrichment programs in the community and at the school.
