David Leigh Ingalls

ESCANABA – David Leigh Ingalls, 75, 431 S. 12th St., Escanaba, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, son of John E. and Esther M. (Anderson) Ingalls.

David graduated from North High School and then Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Ill., in 1959.

He served in the Army from 1959 to 1960.

His employment included many different jobs in various areas of the world. He toured the concert circuit as a back up singer for Johnny Mathis, the Norman Luboff Choir, and did some television programs and other performances. In his later years, he became an underwriter for Metropolitan Insurance Company.

Among survivors include his son, David Ingalls, Jr. of Stanley, N.C.; close family friends, Mark (Lydia) LaPalm and their children, Daniel and Eric of Escanaba; brothers, John E. Ingalls, James H. Ingalls, and Wayne A. Ingalls; sisters, Carol M. Ingalls, Sharon J. Ingalls, and Bonnie L. Herrick-Friesen; sister in law, Wilma (Richard) Ingalls; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Reverend Richard W. Ingalls; and sister, Virginia M. Dalziel Shugert.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Escanaba.

Burial will take place in Iowa.
