Robert E. Carlson
ESCANABA – Robert E. Carlson, 85, of 3830 14.5 Road in Escanaba passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Escanaba. He was born March 28, 1928, in Escanaba and was the son of Gabriel and Hannah (Holmberg) Carlson.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1947 until he was honorably discharged in 1948. Robert married the former Margaret Stram on Aug. 23, 1957, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba and she preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2004. Bob was employed as a truck driver for over 40 years working for Delta Hardware, Morley-Murphy, C.W. Transport, Clairmont Transfer and the Groos Transfer Company. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Escanaba Senior Center, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood carving and going to the casino.
Robert E. Carlson is survived by: daughter, Linda M. Destrampe of Escanaba; four grandchildren, Tina (John) Gordanier, Cory Carlson, Jaime Roshak and Robert Roshak; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Charles Carlson, brother Roy Carlson, and sister Ruth Peterson.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran’s services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert E. Carlson will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Johnson officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services at the Christ the King Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
