Betty M. Johnson
NAHMA, Mich. – Betty M. Johnson, 88, of Nahma, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 18, 2013, at Victory Center in Bartlett, Ill.
Betty was born July 18, 1925, in Nahma, the daughter of Henry and Mary Louise (Vinette) Hebert. Betty was raised in Nahma and was a graduate of the Nahma Schools. On Nov. 3, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Alfred G. Johnson at St. Andrew’s Church in Nahma.
In 1962, Betty and Alfred moved to Illinois where they raised their family and resided until moving to St. Jacques in 1981. Alfred preceded Betty in death on Aug. 13, 1998. Betty continued to reside in St. Jacques until relocating to Bartlett Illinois, in 2008, to be closer to her loving family.
Betty was a member of St. Andrew’s Church in Nahma. In addition, she was a member of the Rapid River American Legion Post 301 Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards, solving word puzzles and reading. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: sons, Gregory (Connie) Johnson of Villa Rica, Ga., Randall (Deborah) Johnson of Elgin, Ill.; grandchildren, Jill (Jim) Kuntz, Stephan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Paul, Leah and Megan.
Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Louise; husband, Alfred; brothers, Hank, Vidal, Cy and Reginal; sisters, Ira and Effie.
Betty’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Nahma with Rev. Fr. Antony Lukka officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Nahma Township Hall. Betty will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Johnson family with arrangements.
