Thomas John Boyne
ESCANABA – Thomas John Boyne, 65, of E5209 M-35, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his home following a lengthy cancer illness. Tom was born in Detroit on Aug. 28, 1947, the son of Thomas L. and Lorraine M. (Katzler) Boyne.
He graduated from St. Thomas High School in Ann Arbor in 1965. He received his B.S. in business from Eastern Michigan University in 1969 and his master’s degree from Northern Michigan University. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1974.
He served as Delta County administrator from Oct. 28, 1985, until his retirement on June 30, 2003.
Thomas Boyne married Elaine Stuart on Sept. 24, 1969, in Livonia, Mich. He was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone.
Survivors include: his wife, Elaine of Escanaba; son. David (Roz) Boyne of Okemos, Mich.; daughter, Karen (Jayme) Couchene of Greenville, Wis.; grandchildren, TJ and Charles Couchene; brothers, Ron (Judy) Boyne of Terre Haute, Ind., and Gary (Carol) Boyne of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Gail Meeks of Chicago and Janet (David) Doty of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister-in-law, Diane Solomon of Livonia; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 10 to 11 a.m. at All Saints Church in Glastone. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Acacia Park Cemetery in Birmingham, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tom’s name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Envelopes will be available at the church.
