Charles J. Gorecki
WILSON – Charles J. Gorecki, 88, N16993 County Rd 551, Wilson, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1924, in Ironwood, Mich., the son of John and Stella (Saffron) Gorecki. In 1930 the Gorecki family moved to Daggett. Charles graduated from Daggett High School, class of 1943. In 1946 they moved to Harris.
On June 17, 1950, Charles married Ruth Darlene Schultz at the Polish National Catholic Church in Harris, Mich.
Charles was a dairy farmer until selling the farm in 1981. He was also a bus driver for Bark River Harris School for 42 years, retiring in 1989.
He was of Episcopal faith.
Charles was a member of MARSP.
Among survivors include his wife, Ruth of Wilson; children, Jean (Leonard) Lindquist of Bark River, Kathleen (Daniel) DeGrand of Escanaba, Randy (Dawn) Gorecki of Bark River, Connie Neeley of Escanaba and Charles (Beverly) Gorecki of Oshkosh, Wis.; grandchildren, Colleen (William F.) Schmitt III, Leonard (Mary) Lindquist, Kristine (Roy) Berto, Sarah (Andy) Johnson, Luke DeGrand, Melissa (Shane) Anderson, Amy (Robert) Grossman, Joseph Gorecki, Amanda Gorecki, and Austin Gorecki; great-grandchildren, Will Schmitt, Hunter Schmitt, Dane Schmitt, Graham Johnson and Griffin Johnson. Visitation will be on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Christine Bergquist officiating.
Burial will be in the Bark River Cemetery. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Gorecki family with arrangements.
