ESCANABA – Judith Cormier-Waeghe, 72, formerly of Escanaba and Gladstone, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 2, 2013, in Comstock Park, Mich.
Judy was born May 26, 1941, in Escanaba, the daughter of Ernest John “Pat” and Yvonne Estelle “Peggy” (Gosselin) Cormier. She was raised in Escanaba and attended Holy Name High School. She later obtained her associate degree from Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
Judy’s working career included being employed at Morley-Murphy Distributing Company, Vanness Construction Company, and Halbinsel-Mazda before establishing her own bookstore business, fondly named “The Book Nook,” in Gladstone. She then went on to gain her realtors license and remained self-employed throughout the remainder of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Steven) Bow of Montclair, Va.; son, Joel “Jody” Waeghe of Gladstone; granddaughter, Kristina Bow of Montclair, Va.; sister, Jean (Chris) Eis of Escanaba. Also surviving are seven nephews, five nieces and many cousins.
In addition to her parents, Pat and Peggy; Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Meier; and nephew, Stephen Meier.
Private memorial services for immediate family will be held at a later date and time.
