Dorothy B. York

STONINGTON – Dorothy B. York, 69, of Rapid River, passed away Thursday Aug, 8, at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette following a lengthy illness.

Dorothy was born Jan. 23, 1944, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Emma (Siegert) Schnur. She was raised in Ann Arbor and she graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, class of 1962.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Dean “Buck” York on Feb. 11, 1967. They made their home in Northville, Mich. where they raised their three children. Dorothy did fundraising for the Angela Hospice in Livonia. Following their retirement in 1992 they moved to Stonington.

Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonington and her hobbies included gardening and canning.

In addition to her husband “Buck,” survivors include her sons, Harold York of Rapid River and Dean (Janice) York Jr. of Jackson, Mich.; daughter, Christina Allison of Northville, Mich.; three grandchildren, Adam, Isaac, and Samuel York of Jackson, Mich.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held by the family with L.L.M. Diane Srutowski of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
