Police make arrest in weekend home invasion

FORD RIVER TOWNSHIP – A male suspect has been taken into custody in connection to a home invasion in Ford River Township Sunday.

Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a Ford River Township residence on 11.5 Road at 5:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a male inside the home.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, the home’s resident chased the suspect out of the residence. A perimeter was set up by deputies and troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone post, while a K-9 was brought in from Escanaba Public Safety to track the suspect.

At 6:50 a.m., officers observed the suspect trying to cross a roadway. Police surrounded the man and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect is being lodged in the Delta County Jail. His name is not being released pending his arraignment today. Assisting police at the scene were Rampart EMS.
