Lorraine G. Dupras
ESCANABA – Lorraine G. Dupras, 90, formerly of 222 South Fifth Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Bishop Noa Home, Escanaba, where she had been living.
Born Nov. 21, 1922, in Flat Rock, a daughter of John and Georgina (LaFave) Miron, Lorraine was raised in Flat Rock and was a 1943 graduate of the Escanaba High School. She enrolled at the Marquette Beauty Academy, receiving her cosmetology license in 1945. For a time, Lorraine owned and operated Lorraine’s Beauty Shop on Washington Street. On Aug. 24, 1948 she married Russell J. Dupras in Escanaba and the couple set about establishing their home in Marquette’s Trowbridge Park area.
Lorraine enjoyed her role as homemaker, taking care of Russell, the children, and their home. Once the children were in school, she began working outside the home and served as cook-housekeeper for the Sisters of St. Paul deChartres at their convent on Country Road 492 for several years. In her leisure, Lorraine especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and being an active bingo participant. Lorraine was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, the Cathedral Altar Society, and the Marquette Township Lions Club.
Survivors include her sons, Russell P. (Paulette) Dupras of Escondido, Calif., and John (Gail) Dupras of Lewes, Del., Raymond (Cidy) Foor of Gwinn; her grandchildren, Daniel Dupras, Patrick Dupras, Lisa (Donald) Brugman, Raymond (Jennifer) Foor Jr., Glen (Heidi) Dupras, and Sandra Percival; great-grandchildren, Beth, Jamie, Jarin, Ethan, Cole, Dax, Jeremy, Marissa, and Daniel; great-great grandchildren, Emma, Logan and Alaina; a sister-in-law, Renauta Miron of Sun City, Ariz.; a special friend, Kelly, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, in 1992; her daughter, Rosemary Foor; sisters, Evelyn Vanderlinden, Ellen Miron, Bernice MIron, and her twin sister, Lara Miron, and brothers, Wilfred, Bob and Russell Miron.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the staff at the Bishop Noa Home and the Sisters of St. Paul for making the last year the most memorable of her life.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
